Acquisition or Retention?

In general, when a game studio begins to develop a game, it starts with an objective in mind. It is known that the game will be different if its objective is to attract new players or if, on the contrary, it is about retaining existing players.
One of the biggest changes is related to the rewards plan. While in games focused on acquisition it is very important to have a high frequency of hits, in games focused on retention it is important that the percentage of high prizes is higher.
Another important aspect is the complexity of the game mechanics. While games focused on acquisition should be simpler and more casual so that anyone understands how it works, games focused on retention can be more complex.
On the other hand, we know that sometimes players do not have much time, so offering alternatives that optimize playing time without wasting precious seconds showing plays that have no prize are highly valued.
With these things in mind we defined that our games must offer a solution for every need and we introduced the concept of levels and packs in all our games.
Level 1 is focused on acquisition, level 2 on retention and the pack on optimizing time.
